Another Rattle Noise Post - Advice or help needed
Hey S2KI family. I have a MY07 48k mile stock motor and its making this thudding/rattling/tapping noise which can only be heard inside the car with the top up and windows closed. Here are a list of things I've done or tried and symptoms:
- Valve adjustment done about 500-600 miles ago (Billman Spec, No issues, engine purrs like a cat).
- Billman TCT.
- Noise only happens intermittently 90% of the time in cold mornings (60-70 F).
- Cannot hear noise when the windows are down and as soon as the noise starts, I've popped the hood and heard nothing from the bay. Just engine noise, nothing out of the ordinary.
- Used rubber mallet on the exhaust manifold heat shield as well as taking cat off to check for damage and hitting the cat with the mallet as well. No noise.
- Thought it could be the throw out bearing but clutching in and out does not make the noise go away and the noise can only be heard at dead stop idle.
- Reving the motor does not change the speed or loudness of the noise.
- AC is off, never tried turning it on with the noise.
I'm honestly sort of at a dead end right now because its been like this for the past 1000 miles and while it doesn't bother me, it does make me want to chase it and find it. Like I said, the sound can ONLY be heard inside the car. I need some advice or help. It would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I've searched the forums and google already and still haven't really found a solution nor a person with the same issue I have.
I did record a video with my phone at a traffic stop and I couldn't tell if my phone was picking up the noise or not because I had to drive off when the light was green. The sound can be heard from 0:10 - 0:14. Thanks.
