Field's SFC VTEC=crap.
I have no personal experience with the Apex unit, but people on this board are praising it all day long. The only thing that troubles me is that ALL of my friends who have used the Apex unit on their Hondas (non-S2000) have found that it makes power briefly and then the ECU compensates and the power goes away. Then the engine just gets quirky and you get check engine lights if you drive so that you maintain your RPMs at your VTEC point for a few seconds. I don't know who is right, but I've heard nothing good from non S2000 people and nothing bad from S2000 people. Maybe it's just the car.

UL,
Thanks for that clarification. Informative as always. I agree that if they were really hairy, and the car idled and was tractable at low speeds, there'd be no reason for VTEC.
Anyways, looking forward to see what can be done to the F20C. I'm thinking 260hp should be attainable with cams, JR filter and some headers.

The only real benefit I see on the AFC-VTEC is that it provides two seperate enrichment loops, one at part throttle and one at full throttle.
Like you, I've seen many cars eliminate fuel tuning gains as the ECU learns at part throttle. However, with the AFC the full throttle tuning portion shouldn't be tuned out since the ECU is open loop under those conditions. That's assuming of course that you don't tune the part throttle maps (leave them alone) or else the ECU will make alterations that also apply at full throttle.
Of course, I haven't tuned one yet (still waiting for Mingster to install his so I can help), so that's just conjecture. But I'd certainly choose the AFC before the SFC.
