No if you have that bolt like that you are fine! Mine came out while I was driving. Inside that part of the engine is timing gears...here's what that looks like courtesy of Reedz

Now here a few pics taken of my car...

This is my favorite one. They said I jacked the car wrong putting my front lip spoiler on. Where is the big dent in the oil pan if I jacked the car from the pan? The entire front side of that pan would've been crushed.

But of course no one at Heritage Honda wants to listen to reason. They want me to pay my insurance company to fix. If someone from Honda reads this please contact me. Or if anyone has someone from Honda's email please let me know.

Thanks!

Nope.. they're saying to me I hit a rock in the road.. or jacked it wrong ... But with both they can't explain the missing timing bolt... and if I jacked it wrong that would throw out all the scratches they are claiming are caused by a rock or something in the road..Plus if it was jacked incorrectly there would be a dent in the oil pan which there is not... it's also very funny.. Once whatever hit the oil pan there are no marks further down the car.. None. Not a single scratch past the hole. Wanna know why? Because NOTHING HIT THE CAR!

Im very This is I thought Honda had better service than this.

honda has the worse... but what honda service says isn't always final... you can also telling the sales rep what happened, which then goes to the GM... the GM can sometimes help you as well.. especially since you just bought it... if not the GM.. .you can try calling AHM...

don't waste any time at all with your dealer. I had a wheel bearing blow out on my 99 Civic Si and i went straight to the top and filed a case with American Honda. After a week, they paid for the part totally and i had to cover half the labor. The car was out of warranty I might add. It ended up costing me $100 or so. Call AHM, be nice, speak highly of the car and it will get you far. Good luck. Jeff

Hey heath389, I can't really see where the hole is in this picture. Is it the black dot that can be seen in the middle of the picture? Is that coolant on the bottom of the oil pan?

If something put a hole in the pan while you were driving, oil will leak out (gotta remember, an engine's lubrication system is pressurized, it wouldn't take long), causing the engine to starve for oil, seize up, thus causing the timing chain cam gear to rip that bolt right off.
