Anyone have this prob after removing key
Once in awhile after I shut off the car and pull the key out, it beeps at me and thinks the key is still in there. So the remote won't funtion (lock/unlock etc), because it thinks I haven't taken out the key. I can stick the key back in and turn it on and off and it will fix it. Gonna take it in for an oil change soon and report the problem, but just wondering if anyone else experienced this?
Thanks,
Don

I have the same problem (intermittently). Took it to the dealer, and naturally they couldn't duplicate the problem. Said it was probably dirt in the ignition switch, so they cleaned it. I still have the problem on rare occasions. I just stick the key back in and pull it out again and it usually takes care of the problem. Someone reported in an earlier post that the dealer replaced the ignition switch for them, but i'm not sure if the problem developed again.
There is a small pin switch on the ignition lock cyl. Sounds like it's sticking, or just flaking out. Try putting some powdered graphite lube on the key, then work the key in/out of the cylinder.

I had this problem. The dealer fixed it as a warranty issue. They had to replace the lock cylinder and a few other parts.
They initially refused to fix it unless they actually saw the problem. The problem was it never did it at the dealer. So the next time the car did this, which was immediately after getting home from the dealer
was to grab my videocamera and tape the malfunction. The dealer still hesitated but they showed the tape to a service tech and agreed to do the repair.
And wouldn't you know it! After the dealer agreed to do the repair, the car had no problem repeating the malfunction at the dealer.

That would be great if it's not too inconvenient you. It will help out when I'm at the dealership.

Customer states that when removing the key from the ignition and opening the door causes the key buzzer to sound.
Here's what they did:
Unable to duplicate customer concern at this time. Tested 3 times throughout the day and was unable to duplicate customer concern at this time.
Here's what they did after seeing the tape:
Inspected ignition switch and found it to be sticking. Special ordered new ignition switch and it will need to be rekeyed when customer returns.
After the part came in:
Recode new Honda Ignition Lock Assembly
(Used outside locksmith for this)
Replaced Ignition Switch as per SOP
Labor Op. 725100 Failure Code
Defective Ignition Switch <> Chime on after removing key
Performed inspection and replaced ignition switch
also rekeyed lock cylinder

They warned me that I might need to bring in my keys for reprogramming the immobilizer, but it turned out to be not necessary.
Oh, and after they did whatever they did, I have never had the problem again.
I had the same problem, when I pulled up to hand them my keys it did it though. So I showed the guy the problem and they took the car in for some other warranty work. Came back and they claimed the actual Tech guy couldn't replicate it so they can't fix it
Just so you know, you don't have to put the key back in, just swivel it into place with your finger. For some reason it just doesn't move the center piece all the way over. Annoying as hell.
