If so how much did you mill, 15 to 20 thousandths of an inch ? did you try using with a stock two layer headergasket (taking out middle layer) ? was there a noticeable difference in performance from bump in compression or just not worth it ?

Sorry for bumping a 10 year old thread but I'm curious since I just dropped off my head and I'm having it milled .020 I'll be using the stock head gasket in it's original form though

Billman recently replied to another thread and recommended strongly not to mill head for compression. Only do it if required if head warped and its required.

Its not worth the compromises incurred.

Expect lots of tct noise if you mill the head. A modified tct will be a must. Plus you will need to run high octane fuel.

Id leave it alone.

I'm already running e85 and have been for 2 years now without any issues. I stopped by the machine shop today and talked to the main machinist . He told me it really isn't worth it to mill the head anyways that I would see maybe 1-2hp and that's about it. Plus if anything were to happen in the future there wouldn't be much materiel left to work wth . So I opted to leave it writhin stock specs if possible . Thank you for your help guys . Billman your advice is always a pleasure .

Why are you milling the head?

Unless the engine was over heated, it is not necessary. Doing so will only skew the chain geometry and cut the chain and sprocket life drastically.

Car overheated and engine idle like a wrx and when cylinder head take off the gasket is warp and the head brought to machine shop to evaluate the warpage and they say to make it perfectly flat again shave at least 0.3mm
whats the best option for this is there no chance to use the cylinder head?
