Cost of wet liners & fitment,new rods & non oem bearings +non oem pistons=x4 $.Lasts 25% less.
then if a rebuild x1 overbore only.do it all again=$.
so 8x the cost.<100k>miles.

Have you ever built or had one of these engines built? Ive done quite a few. Your logic and math skills are a bit off.

And just FYI, a set of oem pistons/rings alone will run you over $1100...then good luck finding someone that can bore/hone that FRM block without fking it up.

Slow, you prolly wouldn't buy one of these sets. The skirts look worn. Make good paperweights or door stoppers.

ebay example

I was talking about these. In any case light scuffing on the skirts is normal.

Sure would be nice, if those sellers would have some mic data (esp ring land wear, ring gap) on those specific pistons.

+1. buying used pistons off ebay without accurate measurements is more than likely going to end up with 4 paper weights

In the last pic, That skirt have some pretty serious scoring.

On a side note, if any of you guys have a desire for used oem pistons I probably have 3 or 4 sets...along with anything else you might need for a f20 or f22

Hello everyone,

I apologize for the delay in responding. The original plan to use the Nippon pistons in my F22 has been abandoned because I managed to blow my other s2000 (money shift).... that is priority now. The new plan is to run these pistons in an F20 instead using the 87.25mm bore block. A few things I'd like to add:

-The Nippon pistons are NOT iron plated like the factory pistons. I have applied abradable powder coating from Line2Line to minimize piston slap and see how that does.

-The 2nd ring gap is smaller than OEM, which may result in some top ring flutter at high RPMs. For the sake of experimentation, I will not change the gap and run a dyno test afterwards. The current gap on the provided 2nd rings are for a K24.

I'm currently rebuilding the engine and will have news soon.

What was your PTW clearance without the coatings? Im curious how they would've held up if ran as they were without any coatings
