AP! Thermostat Hits 4 Bars in Traffic
On my way home in the evenings it's almost stop and go traffic for 12 miles on I-77 outside Charlotte. Today, I noticed my A/C wasn't blowing cold and saw that my thermostat hit 4 bars. I immediately turned off the A/C, switched over to heat and blasted the heat on high with the windows down. Seconds later and I'm back at 3 bars.
Ambient temp was around 93-degrees on pavement in the sun. I got home, popped the hood and my coolant level line was at the recommended "Max" line.
Zero engine mods. Just a stock AP1.
What could be the problem? It's happened one other time but that was because PO left the top of the intake box off and after quick research realized that was a terrible idea so I put one back on.
What are you guys doing to run cool(er)? Is this the infamous "heat soak" people talk about?
I have an SCCA track night in American next week further south in SC. Would like to get her runnin' cooler before that.
Thanks much

Sorry guys. Looks like this has been covered just last month: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/115...-gauge-4-bars/
I'm pretty sure I never hear my fans come on so that's going to be my first step.

If Im standing in front of my car facing the radiator, I have discovered the right fan clicks on when I turn on the A/C. What does the left fan do or how is it activated? Just want to make sure both are working properly.
I bled my system using Billman's methods (never heard a "hiss" from bleed valve, but did see some bubbles escaping) and drove the car yesterday in traffic. No overheating issues so far. Just worried it may happen again at a moment's notice.

The left fan if I'm correct turns on when the car gets to a certain temp, so it doesn't overheat. They sell performance fan switches that activate the fan to go on at lower temperatures. Sometimes fan switches go bad or act up and don't send the signal to turn fan on when the car gets to that certain temperature.
