AP2 Alternator Removal Issue
I am trying to remove the alternator from my '07, but it is stuck. I have removed the clip and bolt-on wire connections from the rear. I have also removed the two 14mm bolts from the front. I can get it to pivot a little bit but, it will not come free from the bottom bracket. I have looked and felt all around it and I cannot see it binding against anything except the bottom bracket. Any advice or tricks to suggest?

Try to pry underneath it with a piece of wood
|
You have to yank it back and forth on the bottom pivot, grab it with both hands and pull and pivot at the same time back and forth, it'll come out, or like was said pry against it with wood, may have to drive it back in with wood and a hammer.

Thanks for the info, I just had to get a little more forceful with it using a small crowbar.

you can try yelling and grunting when you pull on it.

Does it have a bushing in the lower bolt hole? My odyssey had this and it made getting the alternator out difficult. Grunting and pulling helped.
I made a mini press out of a socket, bolt, washer, and nut to pull the bushing out (towards the front of the car in the case of the S) which made putting the new one in a ton easier. If it does not have this then nevermind. |
