Default AP2 convertible top to AP1

I bought an AP2 convertible top to replace my beat up ragged out POS top that's on my MY2000, figured it would be no more hassle than retrofitting to compensate for the glass. Am I right to assume this will be just like doing an 02 or 03 top as well? I didn't think they changed anything from 02 and up on the tops. Thanks.

All the glass tops are identical. Did you purchase the full top+frame, or just the fabric?

If you purchased the frame as well, the swap is relatively simple. Just a matter of removing interior panels, unbolting the old frame, and attaching the new.

If you only purchased the fabric, there are a few helpful DIY style guides on S2Ki on how to attach the fabric and convert your old frame.

the 00-01 frame is different. You need an 02+ frame

its a little more difficult than one might believe... if your not mechanically inclined i would opt to pay someone to do it for me.

9kFever is correct, the frame IS different between '00 - '02 and '03 - up, BUT you DON'T NEED to buy a late model frame. Per the DIY install instructions, you can modify your early model frame to accept the new top.

It is however easier to simply swap the top with frame already attached.

andy, it's not all that difficult. it's a matter of drilling a few holes and riveting a few extra straps to the frame. modifying the process to work on an 00-01 frame adds very little time to the overall install. PM me if you like and i'll be glad to answer questions.

folks, please stop posting "helpful" info if you aren't familiar with the situation.

i hate when people post stuff they have no experience with. all it does is make the project seem harder than it is. and will make a diyer end up backing out.

the frame you have WILL WORK!! as posted befor it just needs a very little amount of modification.

i bought a top with the frame already attached and i now have a glass rear window on my 01. the install took quite a while because i ended up getting stuck along the way with some straps that attach to the back of the top(i didnt know that at the time) but thanks to someone on the bored i figured it out then i put the centerconsol in befor the roll hoop and had to take that all apart again.

i didnt have a diy at the time but they have them so make sure you take a look at them even tho its for a diffrent top it is the same prossess
