Default Bent driveshaft and differential

I was driving and my car started making a loud noise, took it into the shop and told me I had a bent driveshaft and also a bent differential. I am curious as of what could cause this?

Any input would be appreciated!

How do you bend a diff?

Pic would be vital, or explain what part of the dif is bent.

Sorry if it is vague, your guess is a good as mine. Just recieved the call from the shop stating that and I thought the same thing. I was wondering if it may have any connection with the driveshaft being damaged and how I continued to drive it home. This week without my s2k has been horrible I miss my baby and am ready to have her back!

Whoa is this shop under an oak tree or something, bent diff??? Unless you drove over a high curb or something I can't see how you can bend either the driveshaft or the differential. I'm curious about the final outcome on this, hope you get it fixed OK.

Only if you were doing about 40 mph when you hit the curb and the curb was 4' thick and 6' high.

Stuff like that can only occur from a severe (say very severe) impact. Is there something that you aren't telling us or is there something that the folks at your shop should not be smoking?

This is exactly what I told my parents, they are not car people and I told them it sounded fishy. I did not hit anything, I was driving in a straight line when the noise happened. I pulled over to check out what it was it sounded like a flat and saw nothing. I drove off and it continued to make the noise so I gave the whole car a check out on the side of the road. I could see nothin g visible to me. I brought it home and got AAA to tow it to the shop.

She just got finished up and I finally have her back after an agonizing week of being in the shop, but I still am left wondering what happened.

Maybe the driveshaft bolts came loose and bent?

I'd ask to see what that bent diff looks like. It's your part, you're entitled to it.

Did you ask if the johnson rod was not pulsing as well. Sounds like there trying to screw you or they don't know what the problem really is. I'm in the business and a common practice is package repair. In other words when in doubt replace it all. Go to the shop and have them show you the actual problem with the car on the lift. If they won't, take it somewhere else immediately. Good luck

Make sure that there isn't mud or something caked on the d/s (seriously had this happen on both the S and on my jeep)
