I used HVT Brake Caliper Paint. Rated to 1000 degrees and comes in a spray can. You can get it at the Checker Auto Speed Shops, or oder through most high performance shops. I recommend taking your car to a Honda dealer, find a mechanic who is an enthusiast, have him take the calipers off the car (you can do this without bleeding the system), let them hang by their hoses and paint them with several coats. I did this after hours with a mechanic and threw $100 at him for his time. Dealership didn't want anything and was happy to help one of their mechanics make an extra $100. I strongly recommend taking them off. It allows you to get the back side and makes masking much easier.

Anyone know a mechanic around the S.Cali area that would be down to do this? I'll start asking around myself.

Or you can do them right.. pull them off, strip them down, grind them smooth, and have them plated or powder coated.

Here are mine after cad plating..

and on the car..

it's actually a really easy thing to do-
but it takes relatively long time and
you have to be really careful.

my suggestion is,
don't buy any cheap stuff.
they can't really stand the heat and
will cheap very easily.
buy something like "G2 Performance BrakeSystem Paint"
from http://www.carstyling.com/wheel.html.
it's really expensive, but their paint mixes
with hardner and becomes hard rubber- like coating
after chemical reaction. You don't even have to prime
the caliper before you paint it.

How difficult are they to remove?

I *think* he used the folica-tech paint that MG Racing sells. There's nothing wrong with using this paint at all. The only problem that he ran into was the fading because of the excessive heat that was generated from *many* track days at the Gingerman, from which I understand, is quite hard on brakes. I dont think that you'd have a problem with this paint. It was only dissapointing to him because of what he uses the car for - and when he's out at that track, as most other stookers, changing the brake pads at least once is a common thing to do.
