brake/fuel line cover under vehicle
should you remove this? similar to the rear arch trim, I figure this may cause more harm than good, by collecting dirt/moisture and thus rusting the lines

Without you will significantly increase the risk of rocks and debris damaging or even rupturing a line, which sounds a lot more scary to me than having to replace rusted lines after X amount of years

Bumping this, since I've seen many civics and Corollas with rusted lines due to this plastic tray, yet everybody has left theirs on the s2k? Again, same idea applies to the rear arch trim.

quick answer to your question is look to the left of the protective tray, that line is completely rusted yet it is outside of the tray. The lines will rust regardless of the tray being in place. I've had the protective tray on my S2000 and Acura Integra and there is no excessive rusting due to the tray. If you drive in any environment where you have salt and snow the lines will rust and it won't be due to the tray. The difference between the wheel well arches and the underside fuel/brake line tray is that the wheel well arches completely surround the wheel well arch metal and trap moisture between the rubber and metal. The underside protective tray does not touch the lines or completely surround them, so moisture can freely drip out and air flows into it to dry the lines out.
The wheel well arches should go IMO, the underside tray is fine.
