The brake squeal was getting bad so last weekend I decided I would fix it. Took all the pads off, cleaned EVERYTHING, put the rubber brake squeal goop on the backing plates, lubed EVERYTHING, and reinstalled it all. I even took some of the slight glaze off of the rotors and pads for good measure.
Been driving for less than a week and the squeal is back like nothing was ever done. WTF?!?! It sounds like I'm driving a beater every time I stop.
How can I get rid of this? The pads have tons of life left and so do the rotors.

I had a small piece of metal lodge itself into the face of one of my rear pads. Made a squeel and scored the plate facing. It was tiny and I was only able to find it because of the score marks.

Another issue is you might have to bed your pads again to make sure they are flat and season the rotor.

What pads are you using? OEM? Aftermarket? Did you put the molykote in the right place (between the backing & the shim)? Is the squeal from the wear indicator or from the pad material (the wear indicator has a pretty distinctive sound).

Well I don't know what pads they are because I bought the car used but it's a 2002 and the pads have around 1/4" of material on them. It's definately not the wear indicator because of the amount of material on the pad and the squeal comes and goes with different pressure on the brake pedal.
However, what are these shims you speak of? Are they the thin pieces of metal above and below the pad or are they behind it? I put the synthetic brake lube on anything that touches metal, applying lube to both sides. I didn't put lube on the back of the pad because I put a no-squeal rubber goop on it instead.

That stuff may work for a while, but just remember to think of them as band-aids. They don't help your real problem at all. I had a problem like this when i had my STi...and I just had to get new pads. Since you bought your car used that's what I'd recommend. Good luck.

I bet you they are aftermarket pads.

Some junk lifetime use stuff that those chain shops throw on.

go get some OE honda pads, maybe take the rotors and have them ground down a little?

almost all aftermarket pad will, there you have it.

There's your problem. Replace them with OEM pads and you should be fine. The OEM pads will come with shims, too.

Yes, and also remember that rotors and pads have to match. As long as you have your original rotors, all of the squealing should stop.
