Burning Clutch Lining?
Thought I'd try out a start from high revs - just for once
Anyhow, instead of getting any wheelspin, all I got was unbelievable clutch slip and now the clutch creates a burning smell on the dozen or so times I've used the car since. There's no loss of performance that I can detect, but everything doesn't seem right with that smell.
The clutch hasn't done 6000 miles yet and I wondered if anyone out there had experienced the same thing and whether this just 'goes away' or whether something more serious is amiss?

I had the exact same experience a week ago. Only had the smell at that time but the clutch doesn't seem to be quite the same. Almost like there is a tiny bit of slippage in the clutch. Would also appreciate any posts that could explain this phenomenon.
How Ironic. I did the same thing this weekend. Reved to 7 dumped the clutch (not side stepped) and spun the clutch all the way through the intersection at 9K RPM. What a stupid mistake, but in every other car I have ever driven the clutch would have hooked up (even my 79 volvo will light up the tires). I was more than a little dissapointed in the performance of my s2000's clutch! Well to ge to the point the smell lasted 2-3 days. Had me worried too, but the clutch works fine, just smells bad. It has slowly diminished. I figure that nothing is wrong, just some premature clutch wear. But again I really think that a car like this should be capeable of a nice smokey burn out every once in a while.
