can i superglue my trunk key in, and have it still work?

I need to have my trunk able to be opened, and I really don't feel like cutting my bumper to put in "latches" (they are stretchy springs that would hook into the bumper, then onto a stud sticking out of the trunk).

I thought it would be easier to just superglue my key into the trunk lock. will the lock still work, or will it glue the lock too?

thanks - Lazy Scot

Why not just use the electrical release?

Even a track car has a battery and that one small electrical relay can not be a weight issue...

Or you could remove the lock cylinder and install a knob through the trunk lid to the latch. That way you could return to stock later, and not have to worry about passing tech at the track. Not real sure if the superglue is going to hold the key in there. If someone punctures a tire and pulls your key out of the tire, I don't think you will have many happy campers.

My manual trunk release is gone... I am not sure what happened to it.... i guess I could take the lock tumblers out and try to just put a knob there..... it may be easier for me to just install these little latch thingys I have..... I was trying to be lazy..... :(

thanks

o ya... my car has no title, so it will never be street driven. :)

I'm not sure I understand what the hell you are even asking. Why can't you just use the key normally? Why does it have to be glued?

I'm still trying to figure out why one would do this.

ahahah... it is a race car... the trunk must be able to be opened by anyone outside the car (in case it was on fire, or whatever.......... so if the stock stuff is there, they would have to ask me for the key to get it opened...... so I can remove all of that and put pins/latches or I could glue my key in place.

I decided just to install the latches that I already bought.... I have an extra key and thought it would be neater looking with a key sticking out of my lock. :D

ok, that makes sense. Since you already have it installed I won't test it out for you. I was going to glue a key to an old lock I have sitting around the house.
