Unhappy Can I wait to do my valve adjustment till 100K

I have a 2006 Honda S2000 AP2 with 64K miles on it. I do NOT hear abnormal valve noises or have any issues driving the car. After reading some other threads about doing it earlier, I am freaking out now.

So, has anyone ever done their valves and found out they were OK? I really do not want anyone prying into my engine unless I need to. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you kindly.

You may want to consider an adjustment now. Read this...

I don't believe any 100k mile service interval, so my answer is do it now. I wouldn't even leave sparkplugs untouched for that long, let alone the valve adjustment. Yes it can technically go that long but I believe in checking things before they have a chance to do damage. Plus the car always runs better too.

Thank you cdelena. I am wondering why Honda would put it at 100K. I know that people like Billman are experts but Honda has some respectable engineers as well.

Billman has noted a flurry of mal-adjusted DBW car valves (2006 and later). You've been a forum member for seven (7) bleeping years and never saw the warning years ago? The one that keeps getting referenced? Billman found so many (approaching all of the 2006+ cars) that he posted a WARNING.

Do not wait to check the valve clearances. Burned valves take more than an hour to fix and that's all the valve adjustment will take.

If you check them and they're OK, great. More likely they won't be. But ya gotta check them.

Let us know. Too much "won't happen to me" these days.

My 2006 I adjusted at about 85k or so. I bought it at 75k so I have no idea if it had ever been done before, unlikely. All valves were tight. Just do it.

3 words.
DO IT NOW.

why? Risk of tight valve clearance leading to burnt valves- this is especially an issue with DBW cars- '06+..

…who designed the engine but didn't likely test to 100K miles. Why didn't they catch the loose rear axle nut issue either? or fix the TCT?

I bought my '06 with 70k miles. There were several exhaust valves that were significantly out of spec. One as tight as .003. I'll likely need to pull the head and have the valves lapped at some point.

You NEED to have this done. Its not that big a deal. Its not a very invasive operation. Akin to getting your tonsils removed, not open heart surgery.

When I bought my 2007, a few years ago, it had about 40K miles. Cylinders 1 and 2 had very tight exhaust valves. Last couple of checks, the valves are fine (I check them once, a year).
