Default Car Problem

Hi everyone!! Ok so when I came back from Afghanistan last year I got a honda s2000 because I heard it was a great car. Sure enough I got it and I've been happy since! the thing though is that recently it has given me this problem where it doesn't want to start :/ I took it to a mechanic and I payed good money and sure enough I take it home and it gave out the same day he said the starter was fine but don't believe him and now when I try to turn it on it makes the winding sound but the car won't run. I honestly don't know what to do anymore and I ask for help from you guys to see if you can give me some pointers what can be the problem. I honestly don't want to give her away and if it comes down to it i'll let you come check it out. I want her back on the road so I can finally go to the meets with my s2k again!

Check the battery, either with a volt meter or at a parts shop. See if charging it helps.

First off, thank you for your service.

Clarify, does 'makes the winding sound' mean engine is cranking over, turning and turning at what sounds like normal speed, yet engine refuses to fire?

Or does it mean a whiiiiring noise is heard, but its not the normal startup sound, sounds too fast, like starter motor is free wheeling, not engaging engine?

Or does it mean the engine is cranking, starter motor is turning it, but much slower than normal, starter motor is struggling?

Or something else?

Could just be a weak battery without enough power to turn the engine over.
