Default Car Won't rev over 4k

1-20-2015 Just a quick update my S runs perfectly fine after i whacked the MAP sensor but i have the feeling that it just a temporarily fix so i am planning to take off the throttle body and clean it see if that will fix the problem. BTW i tried to re torque the ground bolt at the back of the engine as JesseW suggested but i found out that there is no way to reach that sucker without removing the valve cover.

Just like the title said my S just wont rev pass 4K rpm anymore but no CEL, when i try to go over 4K it act like hitting the rev limit. My S is 03 with 130K miles has K&N fipk otherwise stock. So Any suggestion will help thank you.

The car once went to the correct redline? Cause if it's only going to 4K now, you prolly feel like you are driving a 40 year ago Vega, on two and-a-half cylinders. 8^)

What's the status of the catalytic converter?

You speak out how i felt this morning while i was driving on the freeway. As for the CAT it does not look like it ever been taken out before.

On another car, years ago, I had a cat collapse internally with the same symptoms. Once the exhaust got fast enough the broken parts blocked the exhaust. This was in the pre-ECU days. Time to start pulling codes.

You can pull codes form the ECU even though the CEL is not on ? and i didn't hear any rattle or noise from CAT

A lot of times, when there is an issue and no CEL your car will still trigger a pending CEL, so if you hooked up a scanner to it, you'd probably find out what's wrong. Even the cheap ones can do this.
