also, as i said, take it to an auto zone or something and get the code pulled. most dealerships will charge you just to do that, while you can get it free at auto zone. but it's up to you. we can't help you without the code.
The OP is in UK, Autozone may not has any store there.

J33LUS, you may want to post this in UK forum, they may be able to tell you where to take your S to get the code for CEL , then either post the code here or post it in the UK forum.

Thanks guys,

I have already posted on UK forum, but was advised that you guys would know more.

Is there an easier way to get the fault code?

Do the japanese models have OBD 2 ports?

If so you can buy a scanner to pull the codes, and here in the US, we have auto parts stores that will let you borrow their scanner. If there are any chain auto parts stores in the UK, you should check to see if they have something similar.

This assumes that your check engine light is on, it will look somewhat like this (it will probably say 'Check Engine' or something similar, dunno if the JDM is different)

The codes the scanner can provide are the key to anyone helping you.

Random question... is the ECU for the same market as the car (ie, JDM vs EDM, etc)? Seems like the ECU doesn't like the signals it's getting from the sensors... so maybe there is a harness/wiring incompatibility.

Alternatively... what is the history of this car? Accidents/theft/etc? Sounds like it definitely has issues.
