Default Clutch pedal sticking (master cylinder)

My clutch pedal has started "sticking" a bit. Meaning that as I release the pedal from the floor, there's a point about in the middle of the stoke where, if I'm releasing the pedal slowly (say taking off in 1st gear), the pedal "sticks" just a little bit.

The master cylinder is new, and I just re-bled it. It's definitely coming from the plunger inside the master cylinder which is connected to the rod that connects to the clutch pedal (which is connected to the thigh bone).

Is it safe to attempt to shoot some lubricant into the bore that the plunger travels in?

The clutch was bled with Valvoline Syn Power Dot 3/4. I can't imagine that would cause an issue, since the clutch system is compatible with Dot 3 or 4 fluids. Other than another master cylinder, I can only think to try lubricating the bore the pluger travels through.

Ideas?

You can try to shoot some lube into the where the rod goes into the master cylinder from the pedal but I doubt that will do much. That rod has no direct connection to the master cylinder plunger itself.
You may also have a sticking throw out bearing or a sticky fork lever pivot.

It's definitely the master cylinder. It makes a "squeek" (although it isn't really a squeek... think of a low-pitched squeek, that's about the best I can describe it) as well.

I had the same sqeaking, sticking clutch pedal problem. Mine turned out to be the slave cylinder. Replaced it about 1500 miles ago and no problems since. Others with similar problems have found the cause to be the master cylinder or the release bearing fork.

Have a look here to see if anything is similar:

ps. Former phoned me last night to say that the squeaking has mysteriously disappeared all on its own.
