I think this thread should be stickied. This adjustment helped me out so much, though it was difficult to finally find until I knew what I was searching for.

Do you keep a mm between your lips and hers when you kiss? No space, as soon as you see it start to move the piston as you twist the rod, you're done.

Here is the link to the most excellent video showing how to make this adjustment. I made this adjustment to my 02. It is a 10 minute job. It works well.

Thanks Bill.

Iit was my mis-reading through the posts that free play in the pedal would be eliminated, and thus was adjusting the rod past the initial point of resistance to limit the free play in the pedal, which I now know is incorrect

Mine is now exactly like in the video with the rod at the point of resistance with about 1/4" of free play in the pedal.

My write up would be, as from the video:

Loosen the 12 mm nut on the clutch master cylinder rod.
Gradually turn the rod using two fingers in a clockwise direction until hitting a point of resistance.
Once resistance is felt, tighten the 12 mm nut.
The clutch master cylinder rod free play has now been eliminated and the clutch pedal free play should now be no more than 1/2".

Fining the 12mm wrench took the most time -- other than the 10 minutes it took to extract myself from under the dashboard!

Did both and took less than 10 minutes total. PITA getting there and back as Chuck mentioned.
