Cyl 2 misfire code and now car Won’t Start
Hi all, I’ve had a bad turn of events with my 2003 with 171,692miles
Yesterday I drove 5 min to a friends house and 20min later when I went to start my car it started misfiring and the CEL was flashing.
I drove it home under 10pmh the whole time and pulled the spark plugs. The plugs had bad ash deposits, so I replaced them with NGK’s, and it still misfired.
Later last night I started the car and pulled each coil out one by one to see if there was any change in the misfire to identify what cylinder it was and if it was the coil. The engine ran the same after each coil I pulled.
Today i I got a code scanner and it came back With a cyclinder 2 misfire (p0302) and a p1367.
I swapped the coils between cyl 1 &2 and went to start the car.....and now it WONT EVEN START. It sounds like the car has a dead battery, like it BARELY even cranks 1/4 of a turn and that’s it. NOTHING. i checked the battery and it’s at like 12v and maybe 2 years old. I then swapped the coils back to their original spots, and it still won’t Start.
At around 130k I had a shop replace the valve retainers with ap2 ones and do a valve adjustment. I bought the car at 115k and the compression was good. I am going to look for that test in the meantime.
What at would be the next course of action? It’s weird the whole not starting happened right when I swapped the coils between cyl 1 and cyl 2. Before that, it would fire right up strong and just misfire.
Thanks in advance!

And also this morning before I scanned the code and swapped coils, I started the car (it cranked strong and started right away) and checked to make sure each fuel injector was clicking, which they all were.
Im just stumped why it all of the sudden it won’t start after swapping coils between cylinders....I had the scanner plugged in still when I started the car, which I hope isn’t a huge no-no... ughh

At a guess some bore wash, now has ****ed up a cylinder. it has not !!!!
Do not try and start it
get a bore scope and check bore for damage
if you are brave do a compression test

Misfire has jumped to cyl 1 with the coils swapped. I shall get a new coil pack from autozone and report back when I install it. Seems like my battery took a shit at a convienent time, or the harbor freight scanner was causing some type of issue.
