Cylinder wall gouge PLEASE HELP!!!!
I have a 2000 s2000 that starting getting a really bad knock. I decided to pull it and rebuild it but im kind of scared of what i found.
After getting the head off, I noticed a rather large scratch/gouge in my #4 cylinder wall going up and down the whole lenght . Ive always read that if you use the fingernail technique ( if you feel it get it honed/bored) but my scratch is is pretty deep. I dont have a picture but if i had to guess its a good 1/16 to a 1/8in scratch going vertical ( it could be a little more )
Is my block done for? Do i have any options?

Looks like piston ring failure maybe due to material scoring liner.
looks quite severe

Fair chance its ovalized to the point of not being able to re hone within the little leeway these frm liners give you. You can measure, but these cylinders do get out of round and that makes it a problem. If that's the case, you can invest in an iron sleeve and run forged pistons to what ever spec you want, or move on to another bottom end or used longblock.
