Default D2 coilovers and Pre-load settings

Awhile back i installed my D2 coilovers. I used the preload adjustment to adjust ride height instead of the height adjustment collar.
How would i adjust the preload adjustment? How would i be able to tell that all corners are at the same setting? Atm the car drives fine but i know it should handle better.

just jack it up on all 4 corners and make sure theres no play and the spring perches are snug tight, and then move the shock body to adjust height.

I had those D2 for a year. Worst street set-up ever, felt like walking on ice. I had the track model, maybe you went with something softer.

However, the short manual that came with it CLEARLY says to twist the body of the coil over to adjust the right height, not the supporting ring under the spring. You have to make sure the spring is not compressed once the coilover is of the car and also not moving. It should be just fixed firm in place.
Than adjust a pair of coilovers (rear or front) to the same length, put it on the car and check if you wanna go lower or higher. However do not move the ring that holds the spring in place anymore.
Bad parts is, for ever adjustment, you have to take it of the car.

Good luck

I had the D2's as well and wasn't happy with them. When I originally installed them I did just what you did; adjust the lower shock body for ride height and installed them. It was super slammed when I put them in, but it drove w/o rubbing. An hour later it settled and I couldn't turn my wheels! I didn't have time to take the car apart again to adjust them and had no choice but to adjust the spring perches.

Eventually, I realized what you just did; how do I know the shock bodies and spring perches are all at the same adjustments? I took the car apart again and took the coilovers apart and reset them completely, measuring how far I put the springs down and compensated for it with the shock body adjustment (the right way). I put the springs back to how they were and preloaded them. I still didn't like the way they handled though, I thought my stock shocks with Eibach springs handled much better.

I sold the coilovers and the car, but now that I have another S2k and I'm in the market for coilovers I'm overlooking the D2's, and I don't reccommend them to anyone. They're not that bad for the money, but I'd rather spend another $200-$300 and get Tein FLEX or PSS9's.

On a side note, I sold mine on here for almost what I paid for them from Evasive. They were only a couple weeks old though. I suggest you do the same and get something nicer

you should beable to barely turn the spring by hand on the unloaded damper. Thats how you set perfect preload. As has been stated you only adjust the lower damper mount for ride height. Ideally this is performed in conjunction with you in the car and some corner weighting scales so that you may optmize your cross weights.
