Dash wont light up - Car wont start
Hi All,
I have a problem with my car, in that the when I turn the key and hit the immobiliser on the fob, the dash wont light, meaning I cant start the car.
I have had someone out to check and the battery is fine and I have tried all 3 of my fobs.
I have a Clifford alarm system that was on the car when I purchased it... I think it may be linked to that???
Anyone got any advice?
Cheers

I can turn the headlights and radio on, so there is no issue with the power. I am fairly sure its to do with the alarm... I think I am going to have to take to a specialist

Dome lights come on.
Door chimes when key in ignition.
No cluster lights or turn signals.
High and low beams work as well as brake lights, but that is it.
Car won't start at all.
Checked the battery and it is good as well.

Sound just like if the key was only turned to accessory and not ignition. Not saying thats it, but may be a clue as to where to trace the problem.
Is it possible the alarm is tied into a ignition fuse and its blown out? Just first thing that comes to mind Id check for.

If it were a fuse it would likely be one of the larger amp fuses in the engine bay. But check them all. Anything related to the ignition system. May be an additional inline fuse on the positive batt terminal as well, maybe branched off to run alarm and few other things.

Could be the ignition housing is damaged, I remember seeing a post somewhat recently where the cast aluminum housing was cracked and even by turning the key to the proper position it would not engage correctly. Good luck.
