Yes, I agree with you on that. Even though my hands were slippy I believe I may have tightened the filter more than it should have. Although, would you consider the over tightened filter a possible cause or the filter all together? I can loosen it a little or re-do it all together when time comes about.

I'll try to find some post of the B202 Baldwin to back up reasoning for this move.

Supposedly provides same thing as the PCX 004 but more media, higher bypass, and bumps the total oil capacity to 6L according to rrounds findings. I currently only have 5L in there, but should be plenty.

@Wind no, it just passes thru to 8k without a noticeable engagement or the dip in oil psi I had before.

Given the only change is oil and filter then for sake of time/money swap back to previous oil and filter. I doubt this is causing your issue, any other information (changes) you made would be helpful.

It's more likely to be under torqued then it is to be over torqued, especially with 'slippy' hands. There have been many cases of oil filters coming off S2000's because they were tightened enough by hand - hand tightening is not enough

with an OEM filter I usually need 5.5-5.7L of oil , if you're using a larger filter and only filled 5L then you don't have enough oil! Did you check your oil level on the dipstick?

Also from the post you linked "the B202 will also fit the S, its the same size as the B7042 but has a higher by-pass spring. "

The oil on the dipstick is right below the highest hash mark. I have more Motul coming in by tomorrow according to tracking. Right afzan, either way the filter media should not pose a problem imo.

@lookstoomuch Only difference from my previous oil changes was that the torque wrench somehow doesn't work as intended, I didn't have a oil filter wrench, and the oil filter itself. Same ol' oil as previous times.

OP:

Take off your air box cover.

Get the car to operating temp.

Drive in 2nd gear at ~3K RPM (15mph?) on an open road.

Floor it to 8.2K RPM (62MPH?).

Did you hear VTEC at ~6K RPM?

If yes; /thread.

If no; then more diagnosis is needed.

Your VTEC almost surely works because the car still gets to 8K. And you haven't said your CEL is on.

This is a load of crap from a dealer that just makes things up. I've run the Baldwin B7042 and/or B202 for over 100k miles on my '06 and will run nothing else in the 1.5 X M20 thread.
Here are pics of the Baldwin, Wix and Honda filter(see any baffles?)

Hey rrounds, the person who inspired me to try out this filter
Strangely, vtec now is seemingly engaging on my home commute, the usual 15 minute driving before proceeding to do WOT pulls. Multiple rolling 1-2-3 and 2-3 pulls were made; vtec and the dip in oil pressure now is back but single digit low numbers. Still nothing has been changed/touched since oil change, will be able to borrow a functional torque wrench to check the drain bolt in about an hour.

I'll also take off the air box cover when going to grab the wrench to hear how much more audible the engagement is without the lid. b

Edit: Did multiple pulls again, seems to be working as intended. Case closed unless it's intermittent? Thanks for the responses everyone.

The oil filter has 8 numbers around the periphery. Tighten to contact. Turn seven more numbers to get another 7/8 turn. I find it pretty simple.
