That is so weird. I didn't think the engine would go above 6800K, without flipping onto the high R's VTEC cam lobes.

It's strange indeed but seems to be working as intended now, not sure any causes as nothing changed

I think this question comes up often because stock S2000 VTEC *TRANSITION* is smooth and non-dramatic in comparison to other DOHC 3 lobe VTEC engines.

I have, however, driven B series cars that have had VTEC disabled...but still rev to redline. The primary cam chokes the engine so badly after about 6500 RPM that it felt like the car wouldn't even make it to 8 or 9K RPM in 3rd gear.

If VTEC wasn't working...you'd 100% know. The car would feel broken...not just " the crossover is less noticeable".

The F2XC engine's transition into VTEC isn't noteable compared to other Hondas. But if any 3 lobe VTEC motor actually had the secondary cam disabled....there would be no doubt in your mind that the car is busted AF. Your S2000 would likely be slower than a Miata.

And even then, if you *somehow* weren't sure that the car had major issues....the CEL being on would be an obvious tipoff.

Yeah. And this is one reason he had trouble.

Lots of readers here who can benefit by others mistakes. Improper parts is one.

I missed the part where the filter was giving him trouble. Was there some problem with the filter?

Well it's not given me any problems since my last posting of not having problems. I'm still not sure what happened, perhaps it was even psychological.

Case closed for the time being, I've tried to WOT to 8k multiple times in 1-2-3 or 2-3 pulls no problem thus far. /shrug
