Do coilovers settle?
I know this belongs in the suspension mod section, but I never get much help there, so I'll try this until a moderator forces my move, haha.
Bought a set of lightly used (under 1k) tein flex " control master" I had them installed and an alignment done, but I recently decided to go about 1/4" lower. I have one coilover, my front right, that required me to adjust double the measurement I was looking for in ride height. Basically if I wanted to lower a 1/4", I'd have to adjust the coilover 1/2"??? I checked all I could: strut tower bolts re torqued, adjusted stiffness both ways, bounced the car up and down, went on drives, did tight cornering in parking lots... nothing helped the coilover act as the other 3. So finally I gave up and just got it match the front left, even though my perch to perch measurement was way off compared to my front left. I rode on that for a few days and then took it in for a new alignment. Low and behold I go to my car yesterday and now I'm hellaflush on the front right, haha??? Just curious if anyone's had this experience with tein's or coilovers in general. Also, two weeks ago, when I first started playing with ride height, I found that the spring preload was way out of factory specs, but I've adjusted them back to tein's spec. That was done almost a full week before my most recent alignment. Thanks in advance |

Hate to bump.... Anybody?

The drivers side on my AP1 with Bc coil overs on sat higher for a week. Dropped after one more commute to work. I had checked and compared ALL measurements twice. Took a while but it did settle.

Thanks guys.
I'm just having a hard time imagining WHAT is actually settling? I guess it would be the spring itself. Sounds like I just need to match the problem side(front right) with the front left and just let it ride for awhile. I swear I've taken the right front wheel off 40 times already, haha. I'll update if it doesn't resolve. |
