dome light

alright, my dome light stopped working a while ago. i finally got around to fixing it today. checked the bulbs and they were good. disassembled the switch and found the culprit, green oxidation crap. i'm sure there is a write up about this but i'll do a little DIY about this...

s2000 dome light not working (oxidation)

1. remove lense, use a thin flat head and pry the piece off.
2. remove hex headed two screws (philips).
3. remove quick disconnect for the wires.
4. remove light assembly from mounting point (pry with a flat head again).
5. remove two little screws (philips) from the other side of the assembly.
6. pull up gently on contact piece, be careful not to lose the two u-shaped contact pieces or the two tiny springs upon disassembly.
7. use steel wool or another soft abrasive to clean oxidation crap off (looks like the same crap as on the stature of liberty).
8. reassemble in order of removal.

i just wanted to write this so people with dome lights that don't work can fix this situation and can pay extra special attention to the second part of STEP 6, as in don't lose the springs. stupid me playing take the crap apart didn't know there was a spring in there and had one of them shoot out and is MIA. so, i have lights when the door is open or i can manually put them on but i can't use the push button left/right lights 'cause i lost the spring, no idea if it's replaceable as i'm sure honda would charge for the entire assembly.

:hello: to you. I was gonna do a write-up a while back when I did this to mine. I even took detailed pics and everything. I just got lazy and distracted. Once I get my home pc set-up I'll try to upload the pics to further help out with this DIY.

You forgot the final step!

Buy weather stripping cuz the top is #$%$# leaking onto the dome lights. :hello:

I had the same exact problem, followed the steps and my dome light works flawlessly now. I did have the same oxidation you had. Thanks for this guide and the detailed instructions!

My dome lights doesn't work properly as well. Sometimes it'll work and sometimes it doesn't. I'll have to try this. Some pictures would be nice so I have a visual of how it's done.

My push button lights work fine as does the toggle swithc, but when I hit the unlock on the remote or open the door - nothing. Think that could be the same thing or the door switch. Where should I start?

You should coat the contacts in silicon grease to prevent them from oxidizing again too.
