Default Transmission Removal MY05

Can the transmission be removed just by losening the motor mounts and then letting the motor hit the fire wall.

Or do you have to go through the elaborate procedure and drop the front lower frame?

The subframe must be lowered to get the bolts out of the top of the trans.

Yes, sir that is what you need to do. Don't forget the upper starter bolt too.

CCome on everyone!

Someone must have tried to remove the trans without dropping the subframe!

You have to lower it because there's no other way to get to the upper transmission bolts.

If someone manufactured a specialty tool just for those transmission bolts, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

You can't get to them even if you loosen the motor mounts and take the trans mount out?

It would seem that the trans should fall down 6 or 7 inches?

you can probably get to the upper tranny bolts without lowering it...

but how are you going to pull out the tranny from the engine without hitting the firewall?

in other words, you will "have to go through those elaborate steps" toget your tranny out...
