Default Engine Diagnostic Trouble Code Readers?

Any good engine code readers? Does anyone make a code reader for a Palm Pilot? Or any recommended engine diagnostic software or code readers for a laptop?

No engine problems here. Just looking to add to my toolbox.

Thanks,
Ken

davepk, So what exactly are you doing with this? Why does is it work "pretty well" vs great? Can you clear the stupid "Check Engine" light?

Thanks,

I say "Pretty well" mainly because when the unit is recording 6 or 7 parameters its ussually only updating the values at about 1Hz. This may be the case regardless of the unit used but i'm not sure... Otherwise i'd say the the setup is "Great".

This unit will report any trouble code as well as provide the data that was logged while it occurred and then allow you to clear the code.

Shingles,

can you get the price and publish it at twice the cost to the man above me, hecash, and just send the second one to me. I can pm you my address....don't worry hecash is good for it.

Ok, just kidding....but yeah, I would be interested in a product that tied in the technology to read the ECU codes on a Palm Pilot, or other PDA.

In fact, if it had [over] write capabilities to the ECU, I'd be in.

ok, I emailed and what I got is this:

it's 2% per unit up to 40%

for example, if we have 10 units, that's 20% off 20 units, 40%.

can mix and match adaptors, but does not apply to accesories.

So far, I think we have 3 people, that means 6%... so at say $122 each for 1 adaptor, that would be $11.68 each. But I think I will opt to pay a little ore so I can get all three adaptors.

If we get 10 people, if my calculation is correct, that's $97.60

If we get 20+ people, that would be $73.20 each...

Wow... I am pretty sure if we combine other car forums, we could get the 40%

On the site, it mentions upto 100ft possible... I hope that's with out need of repeaters or anything like that.
