Exedy Clutch Kit versions?

Hey guys, looking to replace my OEM clutch on my AP1. It seems like the Exedy OEM clutch kit is the way to go for me, as I'm not planning on modding the car in the future. With this said though, are there different qualities or versions of the Exedy OEM clutch kit (KHC06)? Just trying to figure out why there are such price differences for this clutch kit, ranging from ~325 all the way to 650 (which is what my mechanic would charge me for the clutch kit). My mechanic is ok with me purchasing the parts myself, but he was warning me not to get the cheaper ebay Exedy clutch kits out there due to questionable quality. Thus, if you guys could point me the right way, to an OEM quality exedy clutch kit, I'd much appreciate it.

Joe

P.S. - Seems like tunersports has a sale on the kits right now, for a little over $400. Not sure if that's good or not.

The KHC06 is the OEM replacement unit which is what you're looking for. The other clutches in their line-up are suitable for higher HP output cars. On those, the pressure plate and discs are designed to slip less under the increased load/torque.

FYI, the KHC06 can be had for $345 shipped on Amazon.

One word of caution. From personal experience, I would purchase the OEM throwout bearing. I purchased the KHC06 kit a couple years back only to have the throwout bearing fail in a 1 year timeframe. It could've been a factory defect or something otherwise, but heads up!

I bought an exedy oem disk 2-3 weeks back and when I opened it the springs were loose and rattled when shaken. Sent it right back. Save yourself the hassle and just buy the disk a d bearings from Honda.

My throwout bearing actually split in two pieces. Failure mode was that clutch was always engaged and pedal could not be depressed (always fully extended).
