Default Exhaust Question

Just purchased a 01 s2k, (dealership) and it came with an exhaust system, (single) but I can't tell what type/brand of an exhaust it is because there are no markings to give me any clues. I'm assuming the previous owner was looking for more hp going with a single, but if its not doing the job I'll want to upgrade it. I'm hoping he or she didn't get cheap and install it just for looks, because if that was the case they should have never removed the duals, any help would be greatly appreciated.

you'll get more power out of a single exhaust if its designed properly. if you put on a dual exhaust it will change the tone if you aren't up for a single exhaust - its not for everyone. a dual exhaust will also add weight. most single exhausts weigh anywhere between 5lbs.... yes, I did say 5lbs. and 18lbs. most duals weigh anywhere between 15 for a titanium (rough estimate) and 54lbs (stock).

Thanks for your input and I do appreciate it, but it didn't answer my question which is my fault for not being clearer. (i'm a newbie) How can I tell what type, model, brand etc... of the exhaust system (single) that was installed if there are no markings on the exhaust ae: brand name, part# etc...

Sorry I can't help you with you question, but I can tell you that the aftermarket
exhaust systems are very comparable. You won't get much improvement (HP) for
the $ from any of them with a N/A configuration. Weight reduction and tone is
what you are really paying for when you purchase an aftermarket Exhaust.

This has been discussed often on this forum. Some reports of 5 HP gains are reported, but usually it's just a shifting in the power curve that takes place. I have the RMRacing exhaust. It looks better and sounds better (IMHO) than stock but offers no other advantages. The duel system is quite heavy, so a lightweight single would offer the advantage of much less weight - with our cars HP to weight ratio that counts for a lot. Taking the picture with the car on a rack would allow the folk on this forum to see it and it would surely be identified. If it's S2000, someone here knows about it and if it's an exhaust system, someone else has it and will recognize it.
