Default fitting OEM exhaust tips to aftermarket exhausts

Lets say i have a FLR exhaust, or anything for that matter, is it possible to keep my AP2 exhaust tip on an aftermarket exhaust?

for the prospect of better sound, weight reduction, and minor/if any HP gains, i cannot do without my AP2 tip.
the oval is just too fitting for me to get circular AP1 lookalikes. no offense ap1, its just aesthetic appearance preferences.

is it possible and has it been done before?

Don't they just screw onto the pipes? You might have to remove the aftermarket tips but it seems doable at least...

the issue lies in the size of the exhaust for the aftermarket vs stock tips (right?)
if we go for the larger diam aftermarket ones, then the stock cover needs to be have a custom fitment made?

i see what you're saying, looks doable, but im wondering if anyone has done it before.
what better way to go sleeper than to actually look completely stock =)

Its been done before, I only found a couple threads with pics though. If you go to a muffler shop Im sure they would have oval tips they could use if the OEM ones didnt fit or something

I know it's been done with the HKS exhaust and AP2 tips, see this thread:
