Default Flywheel modying/uprated version

Has anyone machined and lightened the standard S2000's flywheel?

If so have you recorded what you did to it and was it worthwhile?

I see toda do a lightened version, is this a bespoke manufactured part or a modified standard honda one?

the cars a track only one so not bothered about any disadvantages etc

cheers

I am not aware of anyone lightening a factory unit. The current consensus is at 9000 rpm you don't want a weakened factory unit. Toda, Comptech and several others make a lighter chrome moly steel unit that will hold up to the high rpm without problems. IMHO, avoid aluminum with any bonded friction surface or rivits.

Agree w/ Sideways ...

The Toda is the lighter than the Comptech, but the Comptech can be resurfaced, while the Toda cannot. I have used both and had a problem with the Toda(FW)/Mugen (pressure plate) combo (slipped). This is a popular setup and I'm the only one to have a problem to date (that I'm aware of). I have the Comptech/ACT setup now and no problems yet. Use the stock disk unless you are going crazy in your application. Everyone I've talked with has stated this.
