I already bought and installed a new Dayco belt because the Honda belt was $90 from a local indie shop.
Should I be ordering and replacing the belt again with a genuine Honda part?

nothing wrong with the Honda belt, but you will find it very costly, 2-3 times the cost of alternative belts. Definitely some cheaper options out there , I've run the Goodyear Gatorback (supposed to quieter and cooler ?), I'm sure Dayco is very good too.

how long is the OEM serp belt supposed to last? i haven't checked it recently, but it's the original belt on mine, 8 yrs old and 70K miles. Wonder when i should expect to replace mine...

mine was about 8-9 years old when I got the car so it was due for replacement, but it lasted a long time. There is a belt stretch indicator on the tensioner, the indicator on mine showed that the belt was overly-stretched even though there wasn't any fraying or cracks on the belt. The Honda belt may last longer than the aftermarket replacements, but it is more expensive up front.

Thanks. I figured it would be fine. FWIW I did find a website that sells the Honda belt for $62. I am just keeping the Dayco on it and will just keep an eye on things like everything else.
I did notice the belt stretch indicator on the tensioner and it was right at the edge of the marks.
