Front Fender Tab Pullout Fix
im pretty sure anyone lowered with a mildly aggressive offset has had an issues with the front fender tab pulling out and up. as we all know this is cause by the caster of the s2000 and the wheel being turned while front suspension compresses. (ie:going up a driveway)
as you can this obviously happened to me, so my questions are.. what is the best way to deal with this? roll it back up? cut and roll? is there only one tab that gets pulled out or have you guys had issues with the other 2 or 3? my plan as of now is to remove both front fender liners and roll the two tabs that have the issues as flat as possible. any objections? -Nick. ps. i already did raise the car a little and it rubs a tiny bit, i just dont want to have this happen constantly. |
I would simply roll the tabs in. I fear that trying to remove them may cause more damage to the fneder itself, possible cracking of the paint etc.
I pushed mine as far as they would go. It takes alot of force but I have had no issues with the tire snagging them since.
did you push in just the front one that has the issues pulling out?
No I pushed all of them up. I just used my thumb and forced them as hard as I could
people that catch usually catch the lip and not a tab...
i think they usually catch the tab first, which results in the lip being bent
I always rub my front fender when going in the driveway. 17x9+45 all the way around and I have never pulled the fender out. And I have about a finger gap.
cool. im gonna roll the tabs up and remove the fender liners.
i will report back when im done. |
Cutting the tabs off is the way to go. I kept my fender liner...it's stiff enough to sit in there just fine. I hate not having a fender liner. Crap from the road gets EVERYWHERE.
I spun out once at Gingerman and ripped out a tab and about half my tire tread was laying out on the track. I did some track side mallet work and I cut the stupid tabs off. Solved. Just put a towel over the dent and mallet it back carefully. Don't go overboard and push it too far in and crack the paint. It won't look perfect...but good enough not to notice it until you draw attention to it. |
