Default Head Off - Oil in Cylinders, #1 drains faster than others

Hey All,

I took the head off to be rebuilt and the machine shop guy advised I should flood the cylinders w/ oil.
Noticed that over time, the oil drains - ring gap?
(Only #1 drains twice as fast as the other 3 cylinders.)

I had good vacuum (20hg/m) prior to pulling the head.
Should I look into honing and rings?
The walls look good, no pitting/scaring.

this is not a definitively valid test. Oil over time will inevitably drain as the rings have a gap and compression helps seal the rings, they ride in channels along the piston.

a proper leak down test should be performed with the head on the rest of the engine

since you have the head off I’d check to ensure your cylinder bores are in spec...just incase you have one that is out of round. If it’s out of round too much you will have to toss the block, or sleeve it...but that is a whole other can of worms

Thank you for the input.
Glad that it's not a valid test.

The main cause of the rebuil is due to a thermal intake gasket. It allowed the intake mani bolts to come loose and run the engine lean.
Any info on these gaskets?
(the marucci diy seems to be offline)
I've ordered a set of OEMs this time around.
