Help! 06 says passenger air bag is off, when passanger is in the car
As the title states, my 06 I just bought has this weird issue. No SRS light, nothing weird on the dash, car has a clean title and 49k on the clock, but when my full sized passengers sit in the passenger seat and buckle up, the light above the radio door says "passenger air bag off." Comes on the second they buckle up. Air bag is obviously present and I'm a little stumped. Someone chime in to help a guy out.

I'm thinking I might have to take this thing to the dealership to see what's really up, bc if I die in a sports car, then that's the way I go, but i do kinda value my girlfriends life lol
Im gonna check all the sensors under the seat to see if anything isn't plugged in correctly but I figure if there was something unplugged it might trigger a light on the dash? perhaps not, either way I'll double check

Does this happen when anyone sits in the seat or only when your 110 pound swimsuit model is there?
The passenger SRS light should not come on if the seat is empty. It's automatically disabled when the seat is empty but the light remains off. Only comes on when insufficient weigh is in the seat. I think my dogs activate the light but can't check this morning. Since it comes on the second they buckle up I'm thinking this pushes their body slightly deeper into seat. No clue where the sensors area but I'm guessing they're mechanical.
