Help: Battery or Alternator Going?
Hi Guys,
I took a 45 minute ride the other day and stopped for gas. I shut the engine like normal and filled up the tank. When I went to start up, the car cranked once, then died. I tried again, and a single crank again and all lights went out. The 3rd time I got nothing but fading lights. I figured either the battery was dead or the alternator was going. So the attendant helped me push start the car in 2nd gear and voila! the engine came right up. I drove 45 minutes all the way home and went with my girlfriend's car to buy me a new battery. I got the battery, but the car started right up. I've been driving to work the last couple of days and the car starts right up. The battery is still in my trunk waiting to be installed.
Any explanations??

Check the ground wires make sure they are clean and tight. Sounds like a grounding problem. You can also remove the alternator and battery and have them tested if the grounding doesn't do it, I would check the grounds first.
