Default High-Beams not working? DRL and Low Beams work.

Hi Everyone, I have a stupid and frustrating problem. My high beams don't want turn on. My low beams and DRL both perform fine and when I hit the lever for high beam I believe it shows on the dash that I hit the lever but no response from lights.

I believe DRL and high beams are the same bulb so I know it's not the bulbs. Also can't be the fuses or the switch. So what can it be?

Thanks for any help!

Car is an 07.

USDM '06 and later cars use the high beams as DRLs so you're right about the bulbs.

There are two DRL "control" units under the dashboard and extensive trouble shooting instructions in Chapter 22 of the service manual. Not as simple as a couple of relays. I can copy those pages tonight if you need them. Ignoring loose wires check fuses 19, 43, 45; both headlight relays; relay "IG2" (whatever that is), and the "diodes" where ever they may be.

Thank you Chuck. I will take a look. I think I have the right service manual. Let me go find the section you mention!

I had a similar issue where the DRL's would work but when I tried to use my high beams the light would come on or only one side would work. I actually had to take out the under dash module and resolder it per the instructions someone put up. Worked like a charm and only took me 20 mins to do. Ill look for the link.

Hey Afterlife, I removed the module but did not find any broken solder joints. Could the whole module be defective without bad solder joints?

Did you run the tests in the 2007 Service Manual on pages 22-119 & 22-120? And those on pages 22-121 and 22-122 if necessary?

Simple VOM (meter) tests and a couple just jumping a couple of terminals to see if the high beams come on. All done at the connectors, no pulling circuit boards.

The breaks on the joints were very very minuscule and I think were only an issue when the module vibrated from the motor because the beam problems were intermittent. Theres no harm in reheating and adding a small amount of solder just in case.

This one in your pics looks like how one of mine did and I considered that a break in connection.
