Default High idle around 1k-1.3k and hanging rev?

I just noticed today that my idle is higher than the normal 800-1k rpm range

At a complete stop it sits around 1.4k and after few seconds goes to steady 1.1k and doesn’t go under. Upon upshifting the revs seem to hang a little which causes me to slip clutch because of how slow the car came to be due to rev hang

car is a 2004 ap2 with Ap1 cmc and slave cylinder which does not have the cdv like oem ap2 so it never had rev hang until now.

help appreciates thanks

Does your throttle cable have the appropriate amount of slack, as specified in the manual?

The other areas to consider would be a complete disassembly and cleaning of the IACV valve, and making sure your TPS sensor is functioning in good order (not sure if it will always throw a CEL when acting funky) -- do you have any CELs?

I will inspect the throttle cable later today via manual.

hopefully won’t need to disassemble iacv.

there are have no cel present.

Look for a vacuum leak aswell. You may be pulling air in from elsewhere .
IACV may also be something to look at , but I would think youd have toruble idling as it would clog moreseo than override.

Question

I have a similar issue. Car revs high when cold (about 2.5) and then same as described once it warms up. Did you ever figure this out?

^I've changed a few things/mods since this post. New coil packs/plugs, bigger TB, header and piggyback tune etc.

No more rev hang or anything but I idle at 1200 warm and 1500 at night under load of headlights. Very odd, I've tried 3 different TPS already. /shrug

Thanks for the reply.
I just got a P0122 (low TPS voltage) code last night when I wound out the engine. I tested the TPS resistance:
Total resistance = 4.71 kohms
Closed = 0.6 kohms
Wide open throttle = 4.54 kohms
Assuming 5 volt power that means the sensor is reading around 0.64 volts at idle and 4.8 volts at WOT which is a little high based on the forums (should be 0.5 but can be as low as 0.3, and 4.5 on the top end). The sensor doesn't appear to have shifted at all and the resistance was linear as I moved the throttle so I think the sensor is fine.
I had the car relearn idle (pulled the battery power for a minute, turned off all power, warmed the car up, then let it sit at idle for 5 minutes). It's idling smoother than before and it's back down 800. Time will tell about start up and long term stability. *shrug
