Default Honda OEM S2000 Chin Spoiler (Front Under Spoiler) Problems

I was pretty excited today--thought I would be getting my girl out of the body shop for some work caused by a soccer mom's SUV door and some other worthless human's abuse via a shopping cart to the hood.

No such luck. I purchased the car with the optional chin spoiler (Honda OEM product). It had a small crack in it (presumably curb damage) that I wanted fixed, less the crack grow from the underside (not visible) and look super crappy. The guys removed the spoiler for repairs and repaint, but in the process damaged the gasket that the spoiler uses to mate flush with the front bumper.

I got the call today at work, thinking the job was done (I've been S2000-less for a week now, can anyone say Detox?), but was instead given the bad news. Turns out the gasket isn't offered as a part (only the full spoiler package, and at close to 500 bucks). I'm pissed. I didn't believe them, but it appears to be true after searching for the part on the web.

Any ideas?

Get ahold of Hardtopguy. He can get a MUCH better price on the OEM spoiler. Also a rather nice fellow.

Sorry about your troubles. Good luck and enjoy it when it's done.

I personally don't think its a very important part.
If anything I think you could by a rubber seal from Home Depot and fabricate one yourself.

If not take the damn thing off all together and line the reverse side of the lip with some felt tape or something similar to act as a barrier.

Hope everything works out!
