It's mostly "inspect" and wouldn't hurt for you to go around and inspect all of the items on the list. Otherwise, change the oil, air filter... Nothing out of the ordinary. I'd take the opportunity to change the transmission fluid, brake fluid and diff fluid if they haven't been serviced recently.
Don't pay a dealer their appalling price if this is stuff you feel comfortable doing.

Some items depend on the length of time the car has been in service in addition to the mileage. Here are the things I did at 30K:
Engine oil and filter
Transmission oil
Differential oil
Brake fluid
Clutch fluid
Coolant drain and fill
Air filter
Cabin filter
All these are very easy to do on your own. There are DIY write-ups on all of these subjects. You will save considerable $$$ by doing the work yourself, plus you learn more about your vehicle.

I replaced the cabin filter and air filter myself. I let the dealer do the oil and filter change, diff change, brake flush and fill, and tranny fluid change. I provided syn oil and syn diff fluid. Total cost including parts and labor came to about $250. The 30K service the dealer tried to sell me was $480ish and didn't include everything I did. Just a bunch of fluff to pay for the stealership marble floors. Hard top guy for parts and dealer ala cart service FTW!!
I still can't understand why the dealer charges $24 for an oil change and OEM filter, but they charge you $59 to drain and fill the diff even when you bring the fluids? Simple ripp off economics I guess.

Im about to buy a car with 70k miles on it. What would I have to change? Water pump, oil pump, timing chain, tensioner anything else or am I already taking it too far? I just want to be safe.
