Default honda ultra flange vs ultra flange 2

i needed to reseal my oil pan, so i went to the honda dealership to get honda ultra flange 2 , they told me that honda doesnt sell it any more and that they only sell " ultra flange" i bought the ultra flange and used it but now that its dried it seems kind of soft and weak. did i use the right stuff or should i just have used hondabond ? the ap1 owners manual says to use ultra flange 2 and not honda bond but that was written 15 years ago and compounds and chemicals change , whats the right liquid gasket to use in the year 2016 ? is the "honda ultra flange" going to hold up or am i going to have to take it apart and use the modern hondabond? whats the right answer here ?

When it dries it forms like a stiff putty, it's only supposed to work as a gap filler not an adhesive. You only need a thin line, about as thick as the ink cartridge in a cheap pen, or spaghetti, or the little plastic part at the tip of a shoe lace.

Honda specifies in the manual you can use all 4 different sealants

HondaBond 4 pn# 08717-0004
Hondabond HT pn#08718-0001
Ultraflange pn# 08718-0003
UltraFlange II pn#08718-0009

any will work just fine, and as stated just a thin line on the pan dont over do it. and also wait about 30 min before filling with oil so it has time to cure.

it did not dry like stiff puddy , more like soft rubber like a deflated rubber balloon, regardless its still leaking oil from the bell housing

Did you draw a continuous line with no breaks making sure to draw inside the bolt holes and not outside? Did you hand tighten the bolts in sequence, wait a few minutes before torquing them down in steps?
