how to check brake pad ware.

Default how to check brake pad ware.

Just wondering what tool/method is used to measure how much you have left in your pads before you need to swap them out.

Well, you can pull them off and measure the thickness of the remaining material. I use a micrometer for this, but a ruler would do.

You can get a small 6" metal ruler that is graduated from the edge. So all you have to do is put the edge against the disk and see how far off the brake pad plate is from the rotor.

It's not that hard to pull a wheel and look carefully at both sides. I agree with Harry, I replace mine before they are down to 1/8 inch... just eyeball it.
