Both the turbo and the SC use the oil for both lubrication and cooling, but as the trubo is exhaust driven it gets much more heat and requires much more oil flow to cool it. The sump return is restrictive. Adequate for an SC but not for a turbo.

Suck it up Jim and pull the pan. I'm a firm believer in doing it correct the first time.
