How To Remove Shifter Lever Ball?
Anyone know how to remove the "Seat Change Lever Ball" (54110-S2A-003) safely without breaking it? It's the middle white plastic housing piece that I'm talking about. I broke off the old one and installed the new one on there, but apparently it's on backwards.. This is the only replacement I have for now. Any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried heating it in hot water?

I was able to pull the old one off and to install the new one I put it in a bath of hot water then pushed it on.

I had exactly the same situation last week, and actually broke the new spare when geting it out, but not totally broken so still using it in the correct position and waiting to receive a new one. I would try the hot water method.

Heat the plastic in hot but not boiling water, then take a keyboard duster in a can, and spray it upside down on the metal shaft the pivot is attached to. Put the shifter in a vice, and use a plastic trim removal tool to pry off the pivot ball.

After you figure out how to remove it -- per the other guys, make sure you heat the new one up -- I cracked my new one when trying to get it on. Bah.

as for getting that part off without breaking it. I had to break my original to replace it :o Edit: https://youtu.be/H9DY_vidZaQ 6m 30s mark. I suggest watching the whole video though. |
Notch goes towards the front and the shifter leans to the RH side of vehicle. |
