I am going to have my engine out. Anything I should replace?
I am going to have the engine and transmission out of my s2k and I was wondering if there are things you would recommend replacing while they are out of the car. What seals are leak prone, etc??

The oil leak points on this engine are, valve cover gasket, spark plug tube seals, timing gear o-ring, timing case, oil pan, TCT, rear main seal and Vtec solenoid.
|
Anything clutch related would be a good time to replace if worn.
|
Crank end float check and replace thrust bearing if needed.

Just get the gasket kits. It will probably be a good time to replace the oil pump, timing chain guides, and valve guides/seals or just get your head rebuilt.

The story so far=so maybe get another engine..

Dude, I would just call InlinePro as others mentioned in your other thread. I had them rebuild my short block (re-sleeved) and haven't had any issues so far.

@soulicious I have noticed you have been following my posts and woes of bad machine shops. Thanks for your comments.
I called inline pro today. The price for sleeving, boring, forged internals is only 1000-2000 dollars less than a full jdm swap with jdm TRANNY, and alternator, water pump, etc. So that is the reason why I might just get a jdm full swap. I know that it kind of seems like spending my way out of the problem, but there may be other unforseen issues with the previously screwed over engine. For example, the head was pretty warped, and even though the head is "fully rebuildable", I don't want my cams to seize up like this guy. And a million other things. I am still deciding. This is off topic for this thread, but I will update you guys in my other thread about the engine issues. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-un...-then-1187483/ |
