I need a good mechanic in the Dallas /Fort Worth Area

I have a S2000 2001 model with 37,000 miles. I was down shifting to 4th gear going about 65 miles per hour when the engine red lined and started to miss and loose power. 1 minutes later I pulled off the freeway and check the oil and water they were ok. The car was hard to start and had a miss when it did start. I check the gauges and everything was ok. later the engine lit came on. Has anybody had a similiar experience? I have an extended warranty and they are not willing to authorize the cost of breaking down the engine, and probably the expense to repair the engine( they are thinking I have a bent valvle on the #4 cylinder). Just to teardown the engine will cost $600.00.

Do I have any recourse?

It I have to pay for the repair costs are there any good mechanics that can put my car back together without cost me a small fortune.

Thanks for the input

7/1/03 Update

I have talked to the Honda people and they are talking about $5,500.00 for repairing the engine, how much will a new engine cost. Where can I find one, and if I have to repair the engine can I do some upgrades?

Please help

:eek2:

Sounds like an obvious case of a misshift from 5th to 2nd, but you must have been going over 65 MPH.

I saw a thread from someone in Austin that might be selling a used engine.

the only two shops that i would take that to is alamo autosports , (817)-860-4300, or vsv performance (972)-389-9877 they do nothing but honda/acura stuff vsv alamo

If your car is in pieces, oil is leaking out of every hole in your engine, smoke is billowing in the exhaust, and Alamo wanted to fix your car for $2, I would still recommend that you didn't go. From personal experience, Alamo messed up 2 of my friends Turbo Preludes, and if you need more reasons to not go to their shop, go check the NTPOG shop reviews, and you'd understand why.

Have you tried Jotech? Is that far from you?
